Local Outreach

Changing lives one backpack at a time.

Seven years ago the dream began of providing backpacks filled with school supplies to needy kids. The project began with 100 backpacks. The employees in my moms office quickly embraced the program. As of this years deliveries they have provided 2500 backpacks to kids in three school districts.

Thanks to a partnership with Fresno County Office of Education, the employee contributions are matched dollar for dollar by the Wells Fargo Foundation.

I tip my hat off to this woman, my mom, for her hard work and determination. She started a ministry that puts a smile on a child's face.

Each backpack was stuffed with everyday school supplies...

pencils
crayons.
dry erase markers.
erasers & highlighters.
colored pencils.
glue sticks & scissors.
rulers.
and of course a little tissue...

Each year more people find out about this incredible act of service and volunteer to either donate money, help distribute the backpacks, or stuff them. It's been amazing to see her co-workers get excited to participate in this simple life changing event.

It was fun to hear each principles plan for the backpacks. At Eaton Elementary in Fresno Unified, each of the 17 teachers received 5 backpacks for their classroom. While at Hidalgo, in downtown Fresno, the backpacks will be used as "back to school night" prizes for the students.

I don't know about you, but there is nothing greater than the joy of giving. Such great joy. Sincerely helping those in need and allowing it to change your life. I pray that the love of Christ shines through to the families of the children receiving the backpacks, principles at each school, and the co-workers in my moms office.
